The Partners

Thomas Horne

Thomas Horne, Partner Tom Horne

Tom is the son of T.H.D. Horne, local actuary of the Trustee Savings Bank, and a native of Morpeth. Educated at The King Edward VI Grammar School he was articled to Stanley Rutherford of Brumell & Sample and Town Clerk of Morpeth, and was admitted Solicitor in 1959. After serving two years in H.M. Forces (Army) he returned to the firm as a qualified assistant and on the death Mr Rutherford in 1964 joined the partnership consisting of J.B. Annett, A.N. Smith, B. Dick and himself.

Married to Joan Armstrong, an employee of the firm, he has a son, a daughter and two grandchildren. An Honorary Life Member of Morpeth Harriers and Athletic Club, he won trophies for road and cross country running and was Treasurer of the Club for over 50 years before retiring in 2010. After retiring from active running he has become a keen member of Morpeth Golf Club.

Other interests include Hon. Treasurer of the Morpeth Dispensary (a local charity) and Hon. Auditor of the Northumbrian Language Society.


Michael Gaunt

Michael Gaunt, Partner Michael Gaunt

Michael qualified as a solicitor in 1974 and became a partner the following year. He has a law degree from Cambridge University and is a general practitioner dealing with conveyancing, including residential and commercial leases, wills and the administration of estates and trusts.

Michael is married with three daughters. He is a member of Morpeth Rotary Club, and an active member of Morpeth Methodist Church where he is the choirmaster, one of the organists and on the staff of the Junior Church leading discussions with the 13+ age group. He is also a trustee of three local charities, the Morpeth Dispensary, the Hunter Memorial Homes Trust and the Mary Hollon Annuity and Relief in Need Fund.
